A Message from our President

One day I was asked to analyze different processes in a factory where I used to work. I had just finished reading a book about a German company that had also analyzed their processes and wrote about their findings. My job was to find the gaps that were making our processes less efficient and fix them. I used mounting panels as my first project specimen.

I divided my blank sheet of paper in two, on one side I entitled it Added Value and on the other half Non-Added Value.

Believe it or not I had 70% Non-Added Value once I had completed the mounting panel process assessment. This meant that we were losing money on each and every mounting panel that we had been working on. The end result was that our cost to our customers was always higher than our competition who were operating in a more organized fashion.

The lesson I learned from this, and one that we carry forward everyday here at Industrial Control Direct, is that by creating excellent systems of quality and control, our customers are able to benefit in lower pricing and larger discounts.

I encourage you to try this process with your own businesses. What you may find is that by cutting out any Non-Added Value you will be putting money back in the bank while saving your own customers money too. Couple that with being diligent in your product selection process and you’ll find your winning combination.
